If there was ever an event that truly embodied the good vibes of Vancouver Island living, Sauna-Palooza at Smith Lake Farm was it! This was one of those perfect days (and nights) that had everything—community, wellness, laughter, and just the right amount of chaos to keep it interesting.
The day kicked off with high-energy yoga and a spiritual reading that set the tone beautifully—everyone was buzzing, grounded, and ready for what came next. And what came next? You guessed it… Sauna time! 🧖♀️
Between the iconic Smith Lake Farm barrel sauna and two traveling local sauna companies—Nomadic Sauna and Triple Peak Sauna—there was no shortage of heat, steam, and smiles. People were cycling between extreme warmth and icy plunges, taking cold showers, diving into tubs, and even jumping straight into the lake to cool off. As someone who loves Comox Valley videography, this was an absolute dream to film—pure, joyful chaos in the best way possible!
Then came the rain. 🌧️ And honestly? It couldn’t have been more perfect. Sure, it made keeping my gear dry a bit of an adventure, but the mix of rain, mist, and steam created this unreal atmosphere. The visuals were cinematic—like something straight out of a wellness documentary meets music festival.
As the day turned to night, the energy shifted from calm and grounded to full-on celebration. Enter Neon Steve, a local DJ legend, who threw down an unforgettable dance party that had everyone moving. The light, the rain, the beats—pure magic. 🎶💃
I’ve filmed a lot of events across the Island, but Smith Lake Farm holds a special place in my heart. It’s one of my absolute favourite places—not just because it’s stunning, but because of the amazing community Clea has built there. When I filmed Sauna-Palooza last year, I didn’t know a soul. This year, I couldn’t go ten feet without bumping into a familiar face, catching up, or giving someone a hug between shots.
This kind of connection is what makes Vancouver Island videography so rewarding—it’s not just about capturing events, it’s about telling the stories of the people who make this place so vibrant and alive.
