From the Shores to the Peaks: Bringing North Island College’s 5o year Story to Life
This was by far Hometown Creative’s biggest project to date—by a country mile! 🚀 When I booked this gig at the start of 2025, I was beyond excited. Not only is NIC such an important part of our community, but it was exactly the kind of project I started Hometown Creative for in the first place.
When I launched my little local Vancouver Island video production company back in the fall of 2024, my goal was simple: tell real stories about real people that highlight the heart of our community. This project with North Island College checked all those boxes ✅.
NIC wanted a video that felt authentic to the Comox Valley and the entire North Island—one that celebrated their 50-year history while also inspiring new students to join. Over the course of production, we traveled all over Vancouver Island: from Port Alberni to Campbell River and back home to the Comox Valley. Along the way, I met current students, alumni, faculty, and so many incredible people who make NIC what it is.
I was lucky enough to collaborate with some amazing creatives, both within the college and here in our community. This was a project that started on the shores of our beautiful island 🌊 and wrapped high up in our stunning mountains ⛰️. Through it all, I was reminded how lucky I am to live and work here, sharing the stories of organizations like NIC that make Vancouver Island so special.
